The Legendary of Crab

Do you know why the crab has no brain? It is said that the goddess creates all animals. When the goddess was preparing to make the crab, she was sleepy and it was late very much. Therefore, the goddess told the crab that it is late now, please come tomorrow and I will provide you with a brain. The crab is happy and pride itself on this matter. So, he show off it to other animals that the goddess spend two days to create me due to I am very important .

On the second day, the goddess heard that the parade of the crab and decided not to add brain to it, Hence, the crab was ashamed and hid himself under the rock. Up to now, he has no brain, so what he can do is to stick out his eyes out of his shell. This is a legend from Africa.

What Is Sea Water?

The sea water is the water in the ocean. If you once swum in the ocean and tasted it , you will know the sea water is bitter and salt. The salinity in the sea water comes from the rock on land. When the rock is corroded by rain and wind, the salinity will be washed away by the rain and flowed to the ocean. Therefore, the sea water become salty.

All year round, it is under high temperature around the equator. While the temperature around the South Pole and Arctic is very low. So, the low temperature iced up the water. The huge ice float on the water is called floe.

The ocean has the least salinity is the Atlantic Ocean because the Amazon pour millions of fresh water into the Atlantic everyday. That is the reason that the fresh water is not salt.

Artemisia

So far, in some certain countryside, most people still believe that it is workable for us to get rid of evil by using some certain vegetation.

For instance, do you believe Artemisia  can get rid of the evil? Yes, in Taiwan, most people still trust it has this function. Especially, when we attend a funeral , no matter they are adults or children, they must carry with Artemisia  or put it on the pocket to repel evil spirit, and no matter you believe it or not, you will always follow other people to do so. This is a typical custom in Taiwan.

Furthermore, it is said that add Artemisia into the bath tub and bathe the baby can help the baby sleep well at night. My younger sisiter is a babysittter. She tried this herbal remedy for the baby she look after. It is said that it is workable. In our daily life, we will trust the method that we do not believe when we cannot figure out a good solution. Or we should say " we had no choice but to trust it". This is humanity as well.

However, Artemisia is used to drive out evil spirits and insure safety since the ancient. Such as during the Dragon Boat Festival, every household will hang Artemisia argyi on the door to repel evil spirits. It is an ancinet custom.

A Successful Eatery

In Zhong He near the MRT station there is a restaruant called Yun Nan Can Guan, which serves Burman food, such as Rice with Curried Chicken, Coco Noodle, Fish Soup Noodle and Ba Rou Mi Xian.

The owner comes from Myanmar 20 years ago. He immigrated to Taiwan along with his wife and started to run a small eatery. It is tough at the beginning, but they keep going. As I know, most Burmese live in Zhong He, so, it is logical that their eatery would popular. However, the owner has diverse opinion. He think that a successful foreign not only is popular by their people, but also is acceptable by Taiwanese. In my opinion, they are successful because I like their food and enjoy it.

My favorite dish is the Fish Soup Noodle. One bowl of fish soup noodle costs forty-five NT dollars. The soup is made of fish. It goes with rice noodle, taco, onion and banana cortex. When it is ready to eat, you can put some cilantro and lemon juice on it. It is delicious. I love it.

Now, they have two shops. His two kids are the waiter and waitress. They are busy in running their business everyday, but they are happy.

If I Were a Butterfly

If I Were a Butterfly, I would like to be the Blue Butterfly. First, I would like to tell you the legendary story about the Blue Butterfly, and you will realize why I want to be the Blue Butterfly.

Once upon the time, there is a young native girl  in Costa Rica. The village they lived has a civil war. They are fighting for rights and power. One day, the one she loved die in the tribal war. She is very sad and manage to  stop the war. Therefore, she decided to offer herself as a sacrifice to the volcano and hoped that the God could  bring peace, love and happiness for their people.

On the second day, on the way to the volcano, she fell into the river next to a waterfall and drowned. At that moment, the volcano started to rumble, and a beautiful blue butterfly come out from the bottom of the river. In the meantime, the sky, flowers and all animals around there turned into blue. A few days later, the butterfly transformed itself into a blue angel. Later, in the forest,  a flock of blue butterflies lay on a tree. It looks like they are doing prayer. So, the tree is called peaceful tree. Afterward, the blue butterfly become a symbol of peace, love and happiness.

That is the reason why I would like to be the blue butterfly, not others. If I were a blue butterfly, I hope that I could  bring the world hope, peace and happiness.

Herbs as Medicine

In fact, herbs have been used as medicine to treat aches and illnesses for thousands of year.

Recently years, the market for developing herbal medicine is faster than chemicals (Western medicine) in European Union. It is reported that Switzerland is doing a study to prove the importance, possibility and limitation of herbs as alternative medicine. Once they get the evidence, the herbs would be more and more popular in the near future.
I would like to introduce two famous herbs that have been used as herbal remedy through the way of aromatherapy.

The first one is Lavender: Lavender with a pleasant smelling which can relieve anxiety, stress and can treat for insomnia. So, it is very popular in aromatherapy. As we know, a poor sleep will drain our energy, so it is important for us to have a good sleep. Now, I would like to show you how to use the lavender essential oil to help ourselves at home. For example, put one drop of essential oil on a handkerchief or tissue and tuck it under your pillow. Or you can add 5 drops into the bathtub during you are taking a bath. The two simple ways will make you relaxed and fall sleep easily.

The second one is Peppermint: Peppermint is often used to flavor foods in our daily life. Such as, ice cream, chewing gum, and toothpaste and so on. In herbal medicine, it has been used to soothe upset stomach, and headache. It is an easy for us to use essential oil to relieve headache. First, inhale directly from the bottle or rub with a little essential oil under the nose and at the temples. It will lessen the symptom of your headache.

Shopping Habits of People between Countryside and City

What are the differences and similarities between shopping in the countryside and city? I have been lived in the countryside until I graduated from high school. I found that the shopping habits of people in the country and city are very different. For instance, the place they go for shopping and the times they shop.

People who live in the countryside always shop the articles which will be used daily at the grocery around their village. Such as eggs, soybean sauce, salt, sugar, flour and so on. Besides, they seldom go to the market for shopping the vegetables, fishes and meat. Since most of people raise chicken, duckling, goose and plant variety vegetables themselves. They only go to the market when there is a special festival, like Chinese New Year, the Moon Festival and etc.

While, people who live in the city usually go to the market or hyper market for shopping vegetables, fished, meat and the articles they use daily. Most people go to the hyper market for shopping once a week on Saturday or Sunday. The reason is that city people always busy with work from Monday to Friday.

However, recently years, people who live in the countryside have changed their shopping habits as well. Since more and more supermarkets are built in the countryside. It is convenient for people go to shop.

Mercy Killing

Should  mercy killing be legalised or not? It is a controversial issue all the time. The true meaning of mercy killing is "good death". It is a way to end the life of the patient by injecting deadly drugs or stop curing patient who suffer from uncureable disease. Personally, I think that everyone has no right to end other's life unless the person say "yes" themselves.

Wang Xiao - Ming who suffered brain damage in a car accident in 1963 and became a well known household name in Taiwan. Her parents took care of him until they die. Afterward, her younger sister instead of their parents to look after her. It is a heavy burden for a family to care for a patient more than 40 years. Her mother had ever expressed to Present that grant mercy killing for Wan Xiao-Ming. However, her father did not agree to do so because she is his loved daughter and he do think that she has "feeling" all the time.

Nevertheless, some people will request for mercy killing. That is based on the following reasons. First, they are afraid of thier family with havey burden on economy or spirit. Second, they do not want the doctor using senseless treatment to support their life. They hope that they can die cerenely.

In fact, the poor people easily tend to accept mercy killing since they are unable to bear the huge medical fee. Besides, they even may think that the cost of a dead man is lower than a lived one. To sum up, it is difficult to say mercy killing is right or wrong.
