Pai's grandfather is the chieftain of their tribe. So he decided to train the village boys and hopefully to find a new one to be the inheitor of the chieftain. Therefore, he sets up a school for the boys to learn Maori 's culture.
One of the lessons is to teach the boys to use taiaha. A Taiaha is a traditional weapon of the Maori of New Zealand, which is used for striking or parrying.
When Pai learned that his grandfather would like to form the school, she is interested to learn how to use, wield the taiaha. However, This is traditionally reserved for boys, not for girls. Therefore, Pai secretly learns from his uncle. She also secretly follows his grandfather's lessons.
One day, Pai is in bad mood due to she cannot to take the culture class. So, she walk toward the back yard of the classroom to practice herself. One of the boys try to comfort her, but Pai wield the taiaha to strike him and win. His grandfather gets mad at her when he finds out that Pai wins the taiaha fight against the boy. The truly reason is that his grandfather think Pai break their tribe's custom to use the taiaha.
To be continued.

The leading lady named "Pai ", Her mother gave birth to twins, one is girl, one is boy. Unluckily, the baby boy died soon after birth. Meanwhile, her mother also died during childbirth.
According to the traditional custom of Maori, female cannot inherit the chieftain, the chieftain should be the first-born son. Therefore, Pai's grandfather was very sad and assumed that " Pai" will bring their tribe a disaster. Her grandfather dislike her.
In the same time, her father moves to Germany after her wife passed away to pursue his dream - to be an artist. Nevertheless, luckily, Pai's grandmother love her very much and she always try to protect and encourage her.

My 2010 New Year Resolutions
My first New Year's resolution in 2010 is Enjoy More Quality Time with My Parents.
In 2009, I always work late every day from Monday to Friday. Meanwhile, on weekends, I need to go to Lunghwa for studying. This year, I only got two times of chance to visit my parents.
I still remembered that a few months ago, I dreamed of my mother and father because I miss them too much. I assumed that I am a little bit homesick. So, I want to spend more time with my getting older parents in 2010.
My second resolution is Keep doing Yoga to keep my energy.
Recently, I felt that I am going to out of my energy. I used to do Yoga for a long time period. Owing to my busy work, I stopped it. No matter the stress is from work or school, I feel tired often. From now on, I want to find time to do my favorite exercise - Yoga to keep my energy. So, I can organize well for my work and my schoolwork.

What Is a Good Friend ?
A friend is a person who can trust, can help and encourage each other.
When people are asking who is your good friend? I assumed that the person who appear coming from subconscious is just one of your good friends.
One of my good friends is my High School classmate. She and I always together when we try to do one things. For example, once we paticipated in Chian Youth Corps during summer vacation and had a lot of happy time and memories during my high school days. Up to now, we sometimes still will stay in touch even thought she lives in the south of Taiwan and I live in Taipei. In my mind, whe has became my lifelong friend already.
A good friend should be can help and encourage each other. Speaking of this friend, I must say he is my mentor and appreciate his help and encourage during the past. No matter when I get problems concerening English from work. He is always obigatory to help me. I am so glad that I have this friend.
A truly friendship should be count on a mutually satisfying. If so, a lifelong friendship can be kept.

Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address
After listening to the Steve Jobs's speech, I would like to describe his story as " Every cloud has a silver lining".
Actually, I think Steve Jobs is a smart and different person. He knows why he want to drop out of shcool. One of the reasons is that he is not interested in the required classes of his college. However, he found the fascinating class - calligraphy after he ended his college school. Owing to this reason, he could learn how to do calligraphy. The most imortant, he applied what he learned to his Macintosh computer. And luckily, we now can choose the fonts we want for our paper work.
In my opinion, interest is a key point for us to learn one thing. Alway, we discover our interest and do it. By doing so, we can get what we want. It is just like we choose learning English because we are fascinated with it.
Besides, I agree to Steve Jobs's theory that do what you love. When we are young, we keep looking what work we want to do or love to do. Some found it early, like Steve Jobs, but some did not. No matter it is early or late, when you find it, you should regard it as your lover and you could do a great job. Taking an example of myself, I did not find the work I truly love until I was thirty years old. However, when I find it, I enjoy it and love it more and more.
Finally, I would like to say death is just the destination of our life. Life is short, so hold the moment and do what you want to do. You will think living is a matter of happiness.

My Favorite Course
In Lunghwa Universitity of Science and Technology, my favorite course is 跨文化認知.
The textbook we used is " Good Chats "Third Edition. It introduce idioms, turns of phrase. The most important is that I am interested in them very much. For example, to toss and turn means to be unable to sleep, spending the night moving around in bed trying to get comfortable. to hit the hay means to get to bed. to see eye-to -eye with means to agree with : to accept another's authority.
These idioms and phrase created my curiosity and interest to English a lot. They are fun and fascinating. One of my favorite topics is Family. In this chapter it talk about How does birth order affect a child? It says that Birth order can have strong effects on a child's development. The oldest child, who is often required to look after the younger ones, typically develops leadership abilities and a strong sense of responsibility. A middle child becomes accustomed to tagging along after the eldest, and , in learning to get along with him or her, develops a spirit of cooperation. The youngest child, gets used to being taken care of and treated as the baby of the family, sometimes retaining a certain immaturity even as an adult.
I love this course that is becase this book increased my interest in English.
